The Film Project (Youth)
With instructors ranging from makeup artists to directors and editors, this course is built for the advanced student. Half of the project stays behind the scenes where student develops the story and characters, turing it into a screenplay. Students will spend time with our special effects makeup coordinator, videographers and sound editors. Studies will take place largely on film, where students will be able to perform scenes and monologues, analyzing their work for the final filming of the project.
The Fall Film Project offers the experience and skills of performing in front of the camera with full viewing and analysis. Techniques for internalising emotion; and understand how to approach demanding scripts. This course will form the basis of a secure screen acting foundation.
September to January is the Fall session and February to June is the Winter session. The last 2.5 months of each session requires filming at various locations around the city on Saturday’s and Sunday’s. Please make sure this works with your schedules BEFORE you register as this will require your attendance every weekend for 2.5 months! Locations are made available 3 weeks before filming.
Over the duration of this course you will:
- Explore ‘script to character’ techniques
- Preparation, direction and performance of a scripted monologue to camera
- Use of dramatic improvisation as a preparation
- Understand film as a visual medium
- Preparation, direction and performance of a scripted dialogue to camera
- Viewing and analysis of performances
